The voices we never hear.
Recent articles claim that proposed federal DOL legislation would have interfered in a child's opportunity to learn farm work - that working on a farm was excellent for teaching children to be more responsible.
Unfortunately, the mark missed nearly half a million children currently employed seasonally and migrating, sometimes without parents, to work in agriculture. Once again, their voices were barely whispers among a sea of farmers and lobbyists and other agencies insisting that making agriculture safer for children would somehow tear at the fabric of our nation.
