PRESS RELEASE:Give Food A Face virtual Gala 2021

March 2, 2021 by Yesenia Cuello

The inaugural Give Food A Face Gala fundraiser is coming up on Friday, March 26, 2021 6:30 pm – 8:00 pm and will be held via Zoom. Tickets are available on a sliding fee scale ranging from $5-$10 at GiveFoodAFace.org.

Join NC FIELD for an exciting evening of culture, philanthropy, and entertainment featuring a presentation by our Poder Juvenil Campesino youth group, awesome giveaways, and great music!

The Give Food A Face initiative focuses on raising public awareness about the injustices that support the industrial agricultural system by connecting consumers with the people that cultivate their foods. The gala is organized by and benefits NC FIELD, a 501(c) (3) nonprofit organization based in Kinston, North Carolina. NC FIELD works with migrant and seasonal farmworker youth and families utilizing grassroots organizing principles to inspire leadership, promote education, and facilitate economic and educational opportunities beyond the fields.

The Give Food A Face Gala is NC FIELD’s major fundraising event and the monies raised from donations, ticket sales, and auction profits, will be critical for the health of the Give Food A Face initiative. This particular fund will enable NC FIELD to create higher education scholarships and internship opportunities for farmworker youth.

NC FIELD’s mission is to forge relationships that fill service gaps in the farmworker community while increasing the awareness of the plight of the farmworker. NC FIELD participates in presentations at universities, schools, conferences, and forums to bring awareness to the labor injustices in North Carolina and promote equity for the farmworker community. A major component of NC FIELD’s Give Food A Face initiative is a documentary series amplifying the stories and testimonies of the agricultural community. Through this NC FIELD is able to connect consumers with the people that cultivate, pick, and pack their foods. The documentary series lives on the program’s website, GiveFoodAFace.org and is shared via social media and on NC FIELD’s Blog.

In addition to the Give Food A Face initiative, this nonprofit offers a youth mentorship group called Poder Juvenil Campesino, a Farmworker Emergency Fund, and a Hurricane Relief Fund. See more information about the gala at GiveFoodAFace.org.
